Northeastern University Online offers the flexibility and convenience of online and blended courses that meet the high academic standards of Northeastern University. Each week you view and complete lessons online according to your own schedule. This online and blended approach allows you to earn a degree while balancing personal and professional commitments.

NU Online combines innovation with fundamental e-Learning best practices with state-of-the-art technology. The result is an original approach that maintains the high academic standards of Northeastern University, personally supports students, gives faculty the tools to teach creatively, and effectively uses existing and emerging technologies.

*Content Delivery*
In addition to using standard tools such as discussion boards, multimedia lectures through Articulate Presenter, and streaming video, we have incorporated Podcasts of lectures and combined them with printable copies of the lecture in Adobe PDF format thus reinforcing learning style preferences. The course content is delivered via a template-driven, consistent workflow to give you a familiar, intuitive method to complete your courses.

*Superior Faculty*
Success for faculty comes through our requirement for everyone, including those with prior online teaching experience, to complete an Online training program that teaches them how to design and deliver courses according to our requirements and expectations. So, in addition to providing instructors who are leaders in their field of practice, Northeastern can also assure students that our instructors are highly-qualified in online teaching.

*Instructional Design*
Supporting the faculty are highly qualified instructional designers who have graduate degrees in instructional technology. They show the faculty how to apply adult learning theory to instructional processes to ensure maximum learning and retention. As an NU Online student, you know that your courses are both academically sound and solidly delivered.

*Technology*
The virtual classroom is provided by Blackboard, the recognized leader in learning management systems. Within Blackboard there are additional tools to ensure your success, such as SMARTHINKING, an online tutoring system; Live Classroom, a web enabled synchronous conferencing tool, and Voice Tools, a community building technology, both provided by Wimba.
